We are now looking for a passionate and experienced Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen team within our 43-bed care home.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who takes pride in delivering high standards, enjoys leading a team, and understands the importance of great food in care settings.
The Role
As Head Chef / Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the kitchen, ensuring residents receive nutritious, high quality meals whilst maintaining excellent food hygiene and compliance standards.
You will lead and motivate the kitchen team, manage stock and budgets, and create menus that cater for a wide range of dietary and cultural needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the smooth running of the kitchen department
- Prepare and deliver nutritious, high-quality meals and snacks
- Plan varied menus suitable for elderly and complex care residents
- Manage kitchen budgets, stock ordering, and supplier relationships
- Lead, support, and develop the kitchen team
- Ensure full compliance with Food Hygiene, COSHH, and Health & Safety standards
- Maintain excellent kitchen cleanliness and organisation
- Work closely with residents, families, and care staff to ensure dietary needs are met
- Manage audits, temperature checks, and kitchen documentation
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience as a Head Chef or Kitchen Manager
- Experience within a care home, healthcare, hospitality, or large volume catering environment preferred
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Good understanding of IDDSI diets and nutritional requirements desirable
- Level 3 Food Hygiene qualification preferred
- Passion for high standards and resident experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment whilst remaining calm and organised
