You’ll play an important part in creating a welcoming environment, supporting the smooth running of the bar and ensuring customers receive a friendly and professional service.
We’re looking for someone who is dependable, approachable and comfortable using their own initiative. Previous experience in a bar or hospitality environment would be an advantage, but it isn’t essential, as training can be provided for the right person.
You’ll have the opportunity to work independently while still being part of the wider hospitality team at HM Naval Base Portsmouth, with the potential to support additional functions and events across the site when required.
What You’ll Do:
-
Provide a friendly and welcoming bar service to customers at the Royal Navy Rugby Club.
-
Serve beer, soft drinks and other straightforward beverages.
-
Process card payments accurately using the till and payment systems.
-
Open, maintain and close the bar area as required.
-
Keep the bar and surrounding areas clean, tidy and well presented throughout the shift.
-
Take responsibility for keys and access to the bar when working independently.
-
Provide excellent customer service and maintain positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
-
Follow all relevant food safety, health and safety and site procedures.
-
Support other hospitality functions across HM Naval Base Portsmouth when additional overtime is available.
What You Bring:
-
A friendly and approachable manner, with good customer service skills.
-
Confidence working independently and taking responsibility for your own shift.
-
Reliability and the ability to commit to regular Saturday working.
-
You must be aged 18 or over due to licensing requirements.
-
A positive, can-do attitude and the flexibility to adapt to changing requirements.
-
Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
-
Previous bar or hospitality experience would be an advantage, but isn’t essential as training can be provided.
What we offer:
-
On-the-job training with experienced professionals
-
Fully funded apprenticeship qualifications
