We are looking to recruit a passionate, enthusiastic and caring team member to join our baby room team in our small and happy setting. The successful candidate will have experience of working with under 2's and be aware of the updated 2026 safer sleep guidance for early years settings.
The position is 2 days a week set in advance and can be any hours between 7.30 and 6 pm pre-school will be set in advance and may bring the opportunity for overtime during our opening hours.
Duties
You will need to:
Assist in the care and supervision of babies and children in the nursery on a daily basis
Create a safe, fun and nurturing environment for children to play, learn and develop and prepare each and every child for their next stage of development.
Engage children in age-appropriate activities and play
Assist with nappy changes and potty training as needed and working in partnership with parent's and carers
Serve snacks and meals to children following appropriate guidelines and encouraging independence where possible.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the nursery.
Communicate with parents regarding their child's day and any concerns or updates
Skills which you must have
Experience of working with babies in a childcare setting and have the ability to interact with children of all ages and ensure they are given opportunities to make progress through enjoyable and meaningful activities.
Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities
Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and other childcare professionals.
Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with children and you must be prepared to feel loved, special and important to many young children and their families.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and handle multiple responsibilities at once
Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and schedules. Please note that this job description is not exhaustive, and additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications & Education
The successful candidate must hold a minimum level 2 qualification in childcare and a sound knowledge of working within the EYFS. Safeguarding experience would be an advantage as would be training in SEND. You will be expected to attend training to further develop your skills and enhance your professional development.
