Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Care Assistant to join our domiciliary care team. As a Senior Care Assistant, you will provide high-quality care and support to clients while also supporting the care team through supervision, guidance, quality checks, and effective communication. You will help ensure that care services are delivered safely, consistently, and in line with individual care plans, company policies, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred care and support to clients in their own homes
- Assist clients with personal care, mobility, nutrition, hydration, medication support, and daily living activities
- Ensure care plans are followed and records are completed accurately
- Carry out regular care visits and respond to changing client needs
- Undertake on-call duties as part of the senior care team, providing support and guidance to care staff when required
- Carry out spot checks and quality assurance visits in the field to monitor care standards and staff performance
- Complete medication spot checks to ensure safe medication practices and compliance with company procedures
- Complete manual handling observations and spot checks to ensure safe moving and handling practices are followed
- Provide feedback, coaching, and support to Care Assistants to maintain high standards of care
- Support new staff members with induction, shadowing, and practical guidance
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns, incidents, or changes in clients’ health and wellbeing
- Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to continuous improvement within the service
- Work closely with clients, families, healthcare professionals, and the wider care team
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience working in domiciliary care or a similar care environment
- Experience as a Senior Care Assistant, Team Leader, Field Care Supervisor, or similar role
- A strong understanding of person-centred care and maintaining dignity and independence
- Experience completing care observations, spot checks, or quality monitoring activities
- Good knowledge of medication support and safe administration practices
- Understanding of safe manual handling techniques
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- The ability to work independently, manage priorities, and support a team
- A reliable, professional, and compassionate approach
Essential requirements:
- Right to work in the UK
- Previous care experience
- Ability to travel between client visits (where required)
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of vulnerable adults
- Full driving licence and access to own vehicle
- Minimum NVQ Level 3
