We are one of the UK’s leading suppliers of flat-pack furniture and household items. Due to our continued growth, we are looking for a motivated and reliable Operations Assistant to join our operations team and support the smooth running of our day-to-day business activities. This is a maternity cover position on a fixed-term contract of approximately 12 months. While the role is being offered initially as maternity cover, there may be an opportunity for the successful candidate to be considered for a permanent position, subject to business needs and organisational requirements at the time.
The Operations Assistant is a key role supporting role within the operations team, ensuring that the organisation’s daily administrative and logistical functions run smoothly. This role is essential for maintaining operational efficiency, accuracy, and reliability across the business.
Working Hours
This role is primarily worked on a day-shift basis. However, flexibility is essential, as there may be occasions when the successful candidate is required to cover the 8am – 4pm shift to support operational needs and cover staff absences. 37.5
Key Responsibilities
Logistics & Dispatch
· Coordinate the dispatch of goods both domestically and internationally.
· Manage daily courier collections and ensure all shipments are processed on time.
Stock Management
· Schedule and book inbound stock deliveries
· Monitor and maintain appropriate stock levels to meet operational demand.
· Adjust stock levels as required and assist with stock control and inventory reconciliation.
Administrative Support
· Maintain internal systems and accurate filing of documentation.
· Support interdepartmental communication.
· Assist the order processing team when required.
· Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
Communication & Coordination
· Act as a central point of contact for daily operational matters.
· Support effective communication with internal teams and external partners.
· Assist with onboarding processes and information sharing as required.
Reporting Line
· Report directly to the Assistant Operations Manager
