HGV Mechanic/ Yard fitter
We are looking for an experienced fitter to join our small team of mechanics based in Blaydon . We are a utility company which mainly involves installing gas and water works. We have two sites, Blaydon and Thirsk and you may be asked to travel between the two sites during your working day. A full UK driving licence is essential due to rural location and a HGV licence would be an advantage.
Responsibilities:
- Flexibility to undertake a wide range of tasks.
- Awareness of health and safety regulations and to know of safety precautions and requirements.
- Inspect, diagnose and repair broken vehicles.
- Conduct routine maintenance work.
- Keep logs on work on vehicles, issues or problems, accidents and parts used.
- Occasional light welding, heating and cutting – if qualified
- Carry out minor electrical and body repairs
- Drive company vehicles
- Carry out all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Supervise equipment, technicians and others with or around the equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the workshop and yard.
- Trouble shoot, repair and maintain heavy duty equipment and larger vehicles.
About you:
- Ability to work in a team or individually (unsupervised)
- Be flexible and reliable to adapt to the companies needs if and when requested.
- Be able to work to strict deadlines.
- Be able to work under pressure.
- Must have experience in a similar job role as a mechanic.
- Hard working
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Must be punctual and well organised.
- Be willing to help others achieve their goals
Requirements:
- Experience in mechanics
- HGV Technician Level 2 or Level 3 – Preferred
- Full UK Driving licence – Required
- Ability to work possible weekends and later shifts (overtime)
Hours:
Monday – Friday 7:00 am to 4:30 pm
With possible weekend work and overtime.
Salary will be negotiable depending on experience and qualifications.
