We are looking for a dedicated Children’s Therapeutic Team Leader to help lead an 8-person team that provides children with the support, compassion, and therapeutic encouragement they require to thrive.
Nestled in the beautiful countryside near Welshpool, this specialist therapeutic residential setting offers a child-centered environment for young people aged 11 to 17 to receive tailored, trauma-informed support to cope with histories of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). This service is uniquely designed to provide care, education, and therapy all within one integrated site, allowing for a truly holistic approach. Grounded in evidence-based and theoretically informed practices, the aim is to empower every young person to grow into confident, capable young adults who can thrive in society.
As a Children’s Therapeutic Team Leader, you will utilise your leadership skills and prior experience to ensure that the children receive the high-quality support they deserve. You will lead by example by overseeing and delegating tasks to your team, contributing to staff meetings, and ensuring the smooth running of each shift through structured, healthy routines. You will guide staff in upholding best practices that align with the company policies, procedures, and safeguarding standards.
Salary: £30,350 - £37,000 (Depending on experience, not including sleep-ins)
Overtime paid at £19 - £22.50 per hour
Rota: A combination of early, evening, and long day shifts (No sleep-ins required)

Role of a Children’s Therapeutic Team Leader
- Manage, support and supervise your team of staff, ensuring high-quality practice across the team
- Manage and co-ordinate shifts for your team members, and delegate tasks effectively
- Foster strong, trusting relationships with young people through positive engagement
- Act as a positive role model to both the children and your team of colleagues
- Liaise with therapists, teachers, social workers, and other professionals when needed
- Contribute to the care plans and risk assessments for each child, making sure information stays up-to-date and well maintained
- Facilitate key worker sessions that promote growth and development
- Ensure the home remains a safe, structured, therapeutic, and nurturing environment
- Support children in building independence through life skill development and positive daily routines
- Support and de-escalate any behaviours that challenge, and understand the reasons for them
- Ensure all documentation and record-keeping are thorough and accurate
Requirements of a Children’s Therapeutic Team Leader
- Have a genuine passion for making a positive difference to children’s lives
- Must hold a full UK driving license
- Must hold a Level 3 or 4 qualification in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Ideally hold or be working towards a Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification
- At least 2 years prior experience working with children in a residential setting
- Ideally, have experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural needs
- Be able to work shifts that include mornings, afternoons, and long days (no sleep-ins required)
