This is an opportunity to take the clinical assessment, communication and decision-making skills you've already developed and use them in a completely different environment.
What Is a PIP Functional Assessor? As a PIP Functional Assessor, you'll assess how an individual's physical, mental health, neurological or cognitive conditions affect their ability to manage everyday activities.
You'll gather detailed information, explore their clinical history, review medical evidence and use critical thinking and clinical reasoning to build an accurate picture of their functional ability. You'll then produce a clear, evidence-based clinical report to support the PIP decision-making process. No treatment. No prescribing. No manual handling. No nights or weekends.
What You'll Be Doing
- Conduct structured telephone, video and face-to-face assessments
- Explore medical history, symptoms, treatment and functional ability
- Review medical evidence and supporting clinical documentation
- Assess the impact of health conditions on activities of daily living
- Use targeted questioning to explore gaps or inconsistencies
- Consider severity, variability, reliability and risk
- Apply evidence-based clinical reasoning and professional judgement
- Produce detailed, accurate clinical reports
- Manage a structured caseload with support from a multidisciplinary clinical team
Salary & Rewards

- £3,000 bonus following successful completion of probation
- 5% one-off bonus following successful completion of training

Training & Support:
No previous PIP or Functional Assessor experience is required. You'll receive a comprehensive 6-12 week fully paid training programme, including dedicated clinical mentors, audit support, ongoing supervision and regular feedback.
Please note: Full-time attendance is required during training and annual leave cannot be taken during the first six weeks.
Who Can Apply? You must be one of the following
UK-registered Adult Clinicians: RGN | RMN | RNLD | Physiotherapist | Occupational Therapist | Paramedic | Pharmacist
You will also need:
- Active UK NMC, HCPC or GPhC registration
- Minimum 12 months' post-registration experience
- Minimum 12 months' UK-based adult clinical experience
- Experience working within an adult-facing clinical environment
- Strong clinical assessment and history-taking skills
- Good critical thinking, clinical reasoning and analytical ability
- Experience producing clear clinical documentation
- Confident IT and computer literacy skills
Pharmacists: should have strong patient-facing clinical experience, including consultations, clinical reviews and exposure to a broad range of adult health conditions. Relevant backgrounds may include hospital, secondary care, minor injuries, urgent care or other patient-facing clinical services.
