We are a small, specialist manufacturer and distributor of machinery and equipment for the wire and cable industry, supplying machines for cutting, stripping and preparing wire and cable as well as industrial tools. We provide ongoing repair, servicing, technical support and calibration services to our customers as well as manufacturing a small range of our own specialist machines.
Being a small niche business means our people have a varied role and get involved in many different aspects of the company.
We are looking for a Repair & Service Engineer to join our small team.
The role will include:
- Repairing, servicing and testing wire and cable processing machinery.
- Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
- Providing technical support to customers by telephone and email.
- Carrying out calibration of torque testing meters and maintaining calibration records.
- Assembling, wiring, testing and commissioning machines that we manufacture ourselves.
- Planning and scheduling the build of our machines, ensuring components and subcontracted work are available when required.
- Liaising with staff to coordinate supply of parts/services.
- Carrying out inspection and testing and helping to maintain our quality standards.
The Person
We are looking for someone with a practical, hands-on approach who enjoys solving problems and working with machinery.
You should have:
- Good mechanical and fault-finding skills.
- Some knowledge of electrical and electronic systems.
- The ability to understand technical drawings, manuals and wiring diagrams.
- Good attention to detail and a quality-conscious approach.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise.
- The confidence to speak to customers and explain technical issues clearly.
- A willingness to get involved in different areas of a small business.
Experience with the repair/servicing of small industrial machinery, calibration and machine assembly would be an advantage.
