MacKenzie King are delighted to be recruiting a part-time Senior Bookkeeper for a fantastic local outsourcing company on the outskirts of Ipswich. Supporting a varied portfolio of clients, you will be responsible for month-end reconciliations, preparing profit and loss reports, submitting VAT and CIS returns, and supporting transactional finance activities. This role would suit an experienced finance professional seeking a flexible position of 20-25 hours per week within a collaborative and growing business.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Prepare month-end reconciliations, ensuring financial records are accurate and up to date
- Produce profit and loss reports and other management information for clients
- Prepare and submit VAT and CIS returns accurately and on time
- Support the processing and review of transactional finance activities, including sales and purchase ledger functions
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and client queries
- Provide month end reporting and other periodic financial reporting requirements
- Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
- Support the implementation of efficient financial processes and controls
- Provide administrative and financial support on ad hoc projects as required
- Work independently while collaborating effectively within a small team
Qualifications and experience
- AAT qualified, part-qualified accountant, or qualified by experience
- Experience in a Senior Bookkeeper, Assistant Accountant, or similar finance role
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, VAT, CIS, and month-end processes
- Experience producing profit and loss reports and supporting management reporting
- Proficient in accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel
- Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage workloads effectively and work independently
- Confident communicator with a proactive and solutions-focused approach
- Able to work effectively within a small, collaborative team environment
