Job Summary
We are seeking a professional HGV Refuse Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating waste collection vehicles efficiently and safely, ensuring timely refuse collection across designated routes. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Duties
- Operate HGV refuse collection vehicles in accordance with company policies and traffic regulations
- Collect waste from residential, commercial, and industrial sites along assigned routes
- Ensure the safe handling and disposal of refuse materials at designated disposal sites
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any mechanical issues promptly
- Maintain accurate records of collections and route completion times
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines at all times during operations
- Assist with loading or unloading as necessary, ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and team members regarding route updates or issues
Qualifications
- Valid UK Category C (HGV) driving licence with a clean driving record
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, preferably in waste collection or similar roles such as delivery driving
- Familiarity with flatbed vehicles and their operation is advantageous
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety and efficiency
- Ability to operate specialised equipment associated with refuse collection vehicles
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently under minimal supervision
- Strong commitment to health and safety regulations in a demanding environment
- Physical fitness to handle the demands of the role, including lifting and manoeuvring waste bins when required
