The Hartlepool Site, which employs 130 staff, provides technology-focused manufacturing including PCB assembly, box build, test and the integration of design-led connectivity and power solutions.
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Human Resources Manager to join our Hartlepool manufacturing site. This is a key leadership position that will play an integral role in supporting business transformation, driving employee engagement, and delivering strategic and operational HR initiatives.
As the HR Business Partner to the Site Managing Director and Leadership Team, you will provide expert guidance across all areas of human resources, ensuring the successful implementation of HR strategy and operational plans. You will work closely with UK-based colleagues and global HR teams to support group-wide programmes while delivering a first-class HR service at site level.
This role requires a hands-on HR professional with strong employee relations expertise, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to influence and support business leaders in achieving organisational objectives.
The key responsibilities will be:
HR Management and Support:
- Deliver site HR programmes and recruitment initiatives aligned with business objectives.
- Support managers throughout the recruitment and onboarding process.
- Coordinate payroll activities in partnership with the Finance team.
- Manage all family-friendly policies and processes, including maternity, paternity, adoption, parental leave, flexible working, and unpaid leave.
- Conduct comprehensive induction programmes for all new employees.
- Provide day-to-day HR support and guidance across the business.
Performance, Talent Management & Learning and Development
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of talent management processes.
- Support managers in delivering effective Performance Development Reviews (PDRs).
- Identify training and development needs and incorporate them into annual training plans and budgets.
- Partner with UK and global HR teams on talent calibration reviews and succession planning activities.
- Support the rollout and embedding of management standards and leadership development initiatives.
Employee Relations
- Manage employee relations activities through appropriate employee representative bodies, including the works council.
- Provide expert advice and support to line managers on employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and company policies.
- Lead investigations, disciplinary processes, grievances, and performance management cases as required.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve employee engagement initiatives based on employee feedback and survey results.
Communication, Engagement & Change Management
- Support business transformation and change programmes through effective communication and engagement strategies.
- Partner with the Site Managing Director and Leadership Team to foster a culture aligned with the organisation’s core values.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with employees, managers, and external stakeholders.
- Lead discussions and consultations with employee representatives and works councils.
- Drive employee engagement and support delivery of the Business Excellence Roadmap.
- Manage HR relationships with external service providers and third-party partners.
Compliance & HR Governance
- Monitor and ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation.
- Maintain compliance relating to temporary and agency workers.
- Stay informed of developments in employment law and HR best practice.
- Partner with the EHS Lead to support health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives across the site.
- Monitor absence trends and provide guidance on attendance management.
- Ensure accurate HR records and reporting are maintained.
- Responsible for the collation and submission of annual ESG reporting to Group.
- Provide monthly HR metrics and KPI data to site and Group.
Qualifications and experience:
Essential
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Human Resources Manager or Senior HR Generalist role.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Proven experience supporting employee relations, engagement, and organisational change initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and coaching abilities.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Results-oriented with a proactive and solution-focused approach.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
Desirable
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
- Experience working within a matrix or international organisation.
