Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Upholstery Factory Manager to oversee all operational aspects of our new manufacturing facility as part of our business developments in relation to our already existing market leading furniture retail store. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing production processes, ensuring quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. As this is a new operation the successful candidate would be required to play a vital role in all stages of the setting up and maintenance of the factory. This role requires strong leadership, mechanical knowledge, and expertise in supply chain management to optimise efficiency and productivity within the factory environment. The ideal applicant will possess experience with process improvement methodologies, and quality control practices. This is a full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to lead a dynamic team in a new business extension with expectation for rapid growth within the next 6 months.
Duties
- Oversee daily operations of the upholstery manufacturing plant, ensuring production targets are met efficiently and safely.
- Manage procurement, inventory control, and logistics coordination to maintain seamless workflow.
- Implement and monitor process improvements using methodologies such as continuous improvement to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Ensure adherence to quality control standards throughout all stages of manufacturing to maintain high product standards.
- Lead and motivate a team consisting of up to 7 workers, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure machinery operates optimally; possess mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting issues.
- Develop and enforce health and safety policies in compliance with industry regulations.
- Analyse operational data to identify areas for optimisation and implement strategic solutions for process enhancement.
- Collaborate with senior management on budget planning, resource allocation, and long-term operational strategies.
- As this is a new operation the successful candidate will be expected to be hands on in the upholstery process, especially in the beginning of the operations commencing.
Experience
- Proven experience in manufacturing management within the upholstery or furniture industry is essential.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to machinery used in upholstery production is essential.
- Must know the full process of frame making, furniture sewing, upholstery and packaging inside and out
- Experience in quality control procedures and implementing standards to ensure product consistency.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Prior supervisory or managerial experience in a factory environment is essential.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate teams and collaborate across departments effectively.
Pay: From £32,000.00 per year
