You'll play an important role in delivering a welcoming experience for students, staff and visitors while helping to maintain high standards of quality, service and presentation.
About the Role
As a Barista / Catering Assistant, you will support the Catering Manager and wider team in the day-to-day operation of our catering facilities. From preparing and serving food and drinks to maintaining cleanliness and supporting events, you'll help ensure every customer receives a positive and professional experience.
This is a varied position that offers the opportunity to develop your customer service, catering and hospitality skills in a vibrant educational environment.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver excellent customer service to students, staff and visitors.
- Prepare and serve hot and cold drinks, snacks and catering items.
- Operate tills and handle cash accurately in line with financial procedures.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout catering areas.
- Wash up, clear tables and replenish stock as required.
- Assist with stock control, merchandising and restocking shelves.
- Support catering functions and special events when required.
- Work flexibly as part of a rota to support the needs of the business.

Essential Requirements

Level 2 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Experience of handling cash and operating tills.
- Experience of working with the general public.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient during busy periods.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
- Flexible and willing to learn new skills.
Desirable

Experience working in a coffee shop or café environment.
- Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Experience operating vending machines.
- First Aid qualification.
