SUMMARY OF MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST
1. Attend to all enquiries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors both by telephone and at reception area.
2. Book appointments, ensuring all appropriate information is checked and recorded in accordance with practice protocols.
3. Record messages and requests for home visits accurately in accordance with practice protocols.
4. Registration of new patients in accordance with practice protocol.
5. Arrange ambulance transport and other social services in accordance with protocols and instructions.
6. Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy at all times and ready for use by incoming colleagues, together with any information about unresolved or urgent matters.
7. Process incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence in accordance with practice protocol
8. Action requests for prescriptions in accordance with practice protocol, ensuring such requests are appropriate and timely.
9. Ensure telephone system is operational at the beginning of each day and the answering machine is checked at the end of each day.
10. Ensure consulting rooms are checked and ventilated at the end of each session and left tidy and secure.
11. Understand and comply with all aspects of computer housekeeping, including cleaning routine and back-up system.
12. Enter data on computer, maintain, update and monitor computerised patient database, in accordance with protocols.
13. Photocopying, scanning, filing and other administrative and clerical duties as required.

Monday 1.30pm - 6.00pm
Tuesday 8.30am - 1.30pm
Wednesday 8.30am-1.30pm
Thursday 1.30pm-6.00pm
Friday 8.30am-1.30pm
