Residential Building Surveyor – Reading
Salary: £55,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an AssocRICS or MRICS Residential Building Surveyor to join a growing and supportive surveying practice covering Reading and the wider RG postcode region.
This role would particularly suit a surveyor looking to move away from high-volume lender work and unrealistic daily targets, offering a significantly more manageable workload and improved work-life balance.
The Role
The successful candidate will primarily undertake:
RICS Level 2 Home Surveys
Residential Building Surveys
Private, non-lending valuation work
There is no mortgage valuation work involved in this position.
Surveyors are provided with realistic daily workloads, typically consisting of:
Fridays are intentionally kept lighter, generally involving only 2–3 valuation appointments.
Area Coverage
Work is focused across RG postcodes, extending towards:
Basingstoke
High Wycombe
Windsor
Slough
Travel is kept sensible, with instructions generally allocated within approximately 30 minutes of your home postcode.
The Candidate
Applicants should have:
AssocRICS or MRICS qualification
Experience undertaking residential surveys and valuation work
Strong communication and report-writing skills
A customer-focused approach
Full UK driving licence
