About the opportunity
Plus Cleaning Essex is building a reliable network of experienced cleaning subcontractors to support new commercial and one-off cleaning contracts across Grays, Thurrock and surrounding areas.
Assignments may include:
- End-of-tenancy and void cleans
- Offices and business centres
- Communal areas and residential blocks
- Nurseries and education settings
- Dental, care and medical premises
- Gyms and leisure facilities
- Warehouses and logistics premises
- Deep and specialist cleans
This is a self-employed subcontractor opportunity. Work is offered on an assignment-by-assignment basis, with no obligation to accept work and no guarantee of regular assignments.
You will receive the location, cleaning specification, completion requirements and fee before deciding whether to accept an assignment.
Responsibilities
- Complete accepted assignments to the agreed specification
- Provide a reliable and professional cleaning service
- Supply appropriate equipment or products where agreed
- Follow relevant health-and-safety and COSHH requirements
- Report damage, access problems or service concerns promptly
- Correct work that does not meet the agreed specification
- Protect customer keys, access codes and confidential information
- Submit accurate invoices for completed work
- Arrange suitably qualified cover where permitted and necessary
Essential requirements
Applicants must:
- Be registered, or ready to register, as self-employed
- Have a Unique Taxpayer Reference
- Be able to issue valid invoices
- Hold public liability insurance
- Have professional cleaning experience
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Be free to work for other customers and businesses
- Be able to accept or decline individual assignments
- Have reliable transport or another dependable way to reach sites
- Have a smartphone and communicate reliably
- Provide suitable references
- Complete identity and compliance checks
Desirable
- Existing commercial-cleaning customers
- Own cleaning equipment and products
- Basic or Enhanced DBS certificate
- COSHH training
- Keyholding experience
- End-of-tenancy or deep-cleaning experience
- Experience in nurseries, schools, care or medical settings
- Ability to provide an approved substitute or additional cleaner
What Plus Cleaning Essex offers
- £13–£17 per hour equivalent for standard assignments
- Higher rates for selected specialist or demanding work

Important information
This is not an employed position. Subcontractors are responsible for their own tax, National Insurance, insurance, equipment and business expenses.
Successful applicants will initially join our approved subcontractor network. Work is not guaranteed and will be offered when suitable customer assignments become available.
Pay: £13.00-£17.00 per hour
