We are looking for a Finisher/Snagger to carry out high-quality finishing, snagging, painting, filling, spraying and repair work on heat pump and refrigeration units, ensuring products meet the required standards of appearance, quality, functionality and workmanship before they progress to the next stage of production or are dispatched to customers.
The role will involve identifying and rectifying defects in metalwork and finished units, preparing surfaces, applying fillers and paint, and carrying out general finishing work to ensure units are presented to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect completed heat pump and refrigeration units for cosmetic and manufacturing defects.
- Identify, record and rectify snags, imperfections and areas requiring rework.
- Prepare metal surfaces for finishing, including cleaning, sanding, grinding and preparation as required.
- Fill dents, holes, imperfections and other defects using appropriate fillers and materials.
- Paint and spray units and components to the required specification and finish.
- Repair and finish metalwork to achieve a high-quality, professional appearance.
- Carry out touch-up painting and remedial work where required.
- Ensure paint, filler and other finishing materials are applied correctly and consistently.
- Prepare and mask areas prior to painting or spraying to prevent unwanted overspray.
- Check completed work to ensure the required quality, colour, finish and appearance have been achieved.
- Work from drawings, specifications, work instructions and quality standards where required.
- Identify recurring defects and report them to the Production Supervisor or relevant department.
- Work closely with other members of the production team to resolve quality issues and minimise rework.
- Ensure completed units are clean, presentable and ready for the next stage of production or dispatch.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and organised working area.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures, including appropriate controls when working with paints, solvents, fillers and spraying equipment.
- Use appropriate PPE at all times.
- Dispose of waste materials safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Support other production activities when required and where appropriately trained.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties consistent with the role.
Skills and Experience
- Experience in a manufacturing, engineering, fabrication, bodywork, painting or similar environment.
- Practical experience of finishing, snagging, painting or repairing metalwork.
- Good attention to detail and a strong focus on quality.
- Ability to identify imperfections and defects and determine the appropriate method of repair.
- Ability to work accurately and consistently to a required standard.
- Good practical and manual skills.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Reliable, conscientious and willing to take responsibility for the quality of their work.
