Estimator / Commercial Lead (Pre & Post-Contract)

Established in 2018, Ashby Electrical is a growing, multi-disciplinary contractor delivering projects from design through to install, test and commissioning — across Domestic & New Build, Commercial, Rail, Eco/Solar and Civils. We’re trusted by clients and hold Constructionline Gold, NICEIC, SSIP, RISQS, ISO 9001/14001/45001, F-Gas, Gas Safe, MCS and TrustMark.
This is a central role in our business. We’re looking for someone to price our bids accurately and then carry the commercial thread through delivery — owning the link between what we estimated and what we actually deliver. If you’ve got an estimating or QS background and want genuine ownership and visibility, this is a role with real influence.
What you’ll do
- Pre-contract: prepare estimates and tender pricing — take-offs, build-ups, subcontractor and supplier enquiries, and a strong commercial and quality narrative on bids
- Post-contract: track cost against estimate on awarded jobs, support valuations, variations and final accounts, and feed commercial insight back into future bids
- Work alongside project managers and engineers — freeing them to deliver rather than price
- Help sharpen our win rate and our margin discipline
What we’re looking for
- Estimating and/or quantity surveying experience, ideally in electrical, M&E or wider construction
- Confident with take-offs, build-ups and tender documentation
- Commercially sharp — comfortable owning numbers from bid through to final account
- Someone who wants to be close to the decision-making, not buried in a back office
