Southsea Beach Cafe is a busy all-day brunch and specialty coffee spot in Southsea. We're after an experienced Senior Sous Chef to run the pass alongside the Head Chef, lead the kitchen in their absence, and help us keep standards high as we grow.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can cook to a consistently high level under pressure, but who's also ready to take on the leadership and organisation that comes with being second in the kitchen.
What you'll do
- Run the kitchen day-to-day alongside the Head Chef, and take full charge when they're off
- Lead and motivate the kitchen team through busy brunch and lunch services
- Maintain consistency and quality across every plate that leaves the pass
- Manage prep, ordering, stock and supplier relationships
- Keep on top of food safety, hygiene and EHO standards
- Help develop dishes and contribute ideas to the menu
- Train and support junior chefs and keep the section running tight
What we're looking for
- Solid experience as a Sous Chef, Senior Sous Chef or strong CDP ready to step up
- A genuine eye for quality, presentation and consistency
- Calm under pressure and able to lead a busy service
- Good understanding of food hygiene, allergens and EHO requirements (Level 2 minimum, Level 3 a plus)
- Reliable, organised and a team player
- A real interest in fresh, locally sourced produce and doing brunch properly
