Maintenance Person / Handyperson

Full-Time Permanent Position
We are looking for a reliable and proactive Maintenance Operative to join our team at Carsington House. This is a varied and hands-on role responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented environment for our residents, visitors, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and minor decorating tasks.
- Undertake basic plumbing, electrical, joinery, and building maintenance work.
- Maintain the exterior of the home, including grounds, pathways, signage, and outdoor areas.
- Complete routine health & safety checks, including fire alarm testing and emergency lighting checks.
- Monitor and maintain water temperatures and portable appliance testing records.
- Ensure equipment, fixtures, and fittings are safe, clean, and in good working order.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and respond promptly to reported defects.
- Liaise with contractors and supervise maintenance visits when required.
- Support the Home Manager in ensuring the home remains safe, compliant, and well maintained.
- Participate in emergency call-outs and provide support for urgent maintenance issues when required.
Essential Requirements
✔ Previous general maintenance experience
✔ Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, joinery, and property repairs
✔ Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
✔ Ability to work independently and use your own initiative
✔ Good communication and organisational skills
✔ Team player with a flexible and positive attitude
✔ Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable
- Knowledge of central heating systems and hot/cold water systems.
- Understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
- Experience working within a care home, healthcare, or residential setting.
