Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Joiner/Carpenter to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing various wooden and other material structures on-site and in workshops. This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilise your carpentry expertise across a range of projects, including roofing, joinery, and general construction tasks. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with a passion for craftsmanship and construction.
Duties
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install timber and other materials using hand tools and power tools
- Construct frameworks, fittings, furniture, and specialised joinery components in accordance with project specifications
- Perform fabrication tasks including cutting, shaping, and finishing materials to precise measurements
- Assist with roofing installations, including trusses and sheathing
- Carry out heavy lifting of materials safely to ensure smooth workflow on-site
- Conduct construction painting where required to prepare surfaces for finishing
- Support plumbing, masonry, or electrical work as part of multi-disciplinary projects when necessary
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment to uphold safety standards
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects
Experience
- Proven experience in carpentry or joinery within the construction or renovation industry
- Skilled in the use of hand tools such as saws, chisels, hammers, and measuring devices
- Proficient with power tools including drills, sanders, and saws
- Knowledge of fabrication techniques and assembly processes for various building components
- Experience with roofing installation or repair is desirable
- Familiarity with plumbing, masonry, or electrical work is a plus but not essential
- Ability to undertake heavy lifting safely and work at heights when required
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to construction sites
