About Us
Bisley Shooting Ground is one of the UK's leading clay shooting grounds, delivering approx. 140 corporate and private hospitality events each year for groups ranging from 10 to 200 guests.
About the Role
As Events & Hospitality Manager, you will take ownership of each event from initial enquiry through to successful delivery and post event follow up.
You will work closely with our Business Development Manager to convert enquiries into bookings before taking responsibility for planning every detail of the event.
Whilst you will lead the events department and line manage our Events Assistant, success in this role comes from working collaboratively across the business. Our reception team, instructors, catering and management team all play an important part in delivering our events. We are looking for someone who values teamwork, communicates clearly and brings people together to ensure every event runs seamlessly.
You should be confident delegating responsibilities appropriately, making the best use of your Events Assistant whilst maintaining overall responsibility for the planning and delivery of each event.
Key Responsibilities
Event & Client Management
- Manage the complete event journey from enquiry through to delivery and post-event follow-up.
- Build lasting relationships with clients to encourage repeat business.
- Prepare event proposals, agree packages and pricing, and coordinate all event logistics.
- Plan and oversee the successful delivery of events for groups of up to 200 guests.
- Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure every event is organised to the highest standard.
- Conduct post-event reviews and identify opportunities for improvement and future business.
Team Leadership
- Line manage, mentor and develop the Events Assistant.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively, ensuring workloads are managed efficiently.
- Build a positive, collaborative culture within the events team.
Collaboration
- Work closely with the reception, catering and management team.
- Ensure all departments receive clear and timely event information.
- Build strong working relationships across the business so that everyone understands their role in delivering outstanding events.
Admin & Operations
- Manage event administration from booking through to invoicing.
- Raise VAT invoices using Xero
- Manage bar stock ordering and coordinate third-party suppliers.
- Maintain accurate event records, pricing and commercial awareness.
About You
You will have:
- Previous experience planning and managing events within a hospitality or events environment.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong commercial awareness with the confidence to discuss packages and pricing with clients.
- Experience leading or supervising a team.
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships across different departments.
- A collaborative leadership style with the confidence to take ownership whilst recognising that successful events are delivered by the wider team.
- Experience producing VAT invoices, ideally using Xero.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends when required.
Desirable
- Knowledge of licensed premises operations
- Clay shooting background beneficial but not essential
