Job Overview
Castle House is seeking a committed and resilient Residential Support Worker to provide high-quality care and support to children and young people within a residential setting.
The role involves supporting children with emotional and behavioural needs, helping them to develop stability, independence, and positive outcomes. You will contribute to creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where children feel valued and supported.
You will work as part of a team to deliver care in line with individual care plans, ensuring that safeguarding and the welfare of children remain the priority at all times.
Shifts will be worked on a rota basis and may include long days, waking nights, sleep-in duties, weekends, and bank holidays in line with the needs of the service.
Responsibilities
- Support children and young people with all aspects of daily living, including routines, education, and leisure activities
- Implement and follow individual care plans, behaviour support strategies, and risk assessments
- Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with children, promoting trust, boundaries, and emotional security
- Support children to develop life skills, independence, and positive social behaviours
- Facilitate and participate in activities that promote engagement, well-being, and development
- Transport children to education, appointments, and activities where required
- Accurately record all relevant information, including daily logs, incident reports, and safeguarding concerns, in line with company procedures
- Work in partnership with external professionals, including social workers, education providers, and health services
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to safeguarding procedures, health and safety requirements, and organisational policies
- Respond appropriately to challenging behaviours using approved de-escalation techniques and in line with training provided
Qualifications
- Experience working with children and young people, particularly those with emotional and behavioural needs, is desirable but not essential
- A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards) is preferred
- Full UK driving licence is desirable
- Ability to work flexibly, including long days, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow guidance from senior staff
- Basic IT skills to complete records and documentation
- A calm, patient, and consistent approach, with a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children

Pay: £29,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
