Overall job purpose
- To be the Senior Benefits Officer for the a team responsible for the Welfare awards within the Benefits Financial Assessment Service and have direct staff supervision of benefits officers responsible for,Discretionary Housing Payment, , Free School Meals, School Essentials Grants and the interventions strategy , ensuring that all relevant targets are achieved and that customers are dealt with courteously and in accordance with legislation and good practice.
- To deputise for the Benefits Manager in the absence of that post-holder.
- As Senior Benefits Officer, to be the designated senior officer dealing with more complex cases.
- To assist the Benefits Manager to continuously drive improvement in delivery performance by developing and implementing policies, initiatives and strategies to improve team performance and have specific responsibility for the individual performance of the benefits officers under the officer’s direct supervision.
- Assist the Benefits Manager to influence, develop and deliver the Council’s Benefits Financial Assessment Service.
- Assist the Benefits Manager to develop and maintain effective relationships with other teams in Revenues and Benefits, key partners, service providers, stakeholders and customers in order to assist the Benefits Manager in the delivery of high quality services that meet user needs.
