Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and experienced Class 1 HGV Tramper driver to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating Curtainside lorries on long-distance routes, primarily focusing on delivering goods across various locations. This role offers the opportunity to work independently while ensuring timely and safe transportation of cargo. The ideal applicant will possess strong driving skills, experience in commercial driving, and familiarity with flatbed operations. This position is fully paid and suitable for drivers committed to maintaining high safety standards and excellent service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Operate Class 1 HGV lorries, specialising in curtain sider + flatbed transportation, across national routes.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with legal requirements.
- Secure loads effectively on flatbeds, ensuring stability during transit.
- Plan routes efficiently, adhering to delivery schedules and legal driving hours.
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery notes and logs.
- Maintain a professional demeanour when interacting with clients and warehouse staff during deliveries.
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including adherence to tachograph rules and vehicle maintenance protocols.
- Report any vehicle issues or incidents promptly to the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 HGV licence with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with curtain sider flatbed lorries or similar vehicles.
- Delivery driver experience is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and legal requirements for long-distance freight transport.
- Ability to operate flatbeds safely and securely during loading and unloading processes.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to plan routes effectively.
- Physically fit to handle load securing tasks and long hours on the road.
- Flexibility to undertake tramping routes that may involve extended periods away from home.
