At Brownings we are urgently seeking reliable and customer focused Van Drivers to join our Transport Team. This night shift role is vital to delivering our award-winning products safely, professionally and on time.
- Hours: Full and Part Time posts available covering nightshift - 5 days over 7 (midnight start time)
- Contract: Permanent - following successful 3 month probationary period
KEY RESPONBILITIES:
Delivery Operations:
- Complete daily delivery routes as scheduled by the Transport Manager.
- Load, check and secure products accurately to prevent damage.
- Deliver to retail shops, wholesale customers and designated drop point of time.
- Obtain signatures, delivery confirmation and complete all required documentation.
Customer Service:
- Provide friendly, professional service at all times, to all customers.
- Report shortages, delays, refusals or delivery issues promptly.
- Represent Brownings the Bakers positively at every point of contact.
Vehicle & Equipment Care:
- Carry out daily vehicle checks (oil, tyres, fuel, defects).
- Report any defects immediately and follow company procedures.
- Keep vehicles clean, tidy and compliant with food hygiene standards.
Compliance & Safety:
- Drive safely and responsibly in line with road and company policies.
- Adhere to working time, rest break and driver hour regulations.
- Follow food safety, product handling and safe loading/unloading procedures.
Documentation & Processes:
- Accurately complete delivery notes, temperature controls (if required) and defect sheets.
- Record and report any returns, credits or waste honestly and promptly.
- Perform any additional duties in line with the role as required by the Transport Manager.
Essential Criteria:
- Full UK Driving Licence (with no convictions or bans).
- Proven experience in a delivery and/or driving role.
- Strong knowledge of driving routes, traffic laws and transport legislation.
- Understanding of DVLA compliance and driver hours rules.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
