After School Club Assistant – Jam Coding Medway

Jam Coding Medway delivers outstanding computing and coding workshops to primary school children across Rochester, Strood, Chatham, and the wider Medway area. We are passionate about helping children explore technology in a positive, creative, and constructive way, and we're growing.
We have an exciting opportunity for an After School Club Assistant to join our team, supporting the delivery of fun, engaging computing and coding workshops in schools across the Medway area.
Full training is provided — you do not need to be a coding expert to apply.
This role would suit a TA or HLTA looking to pick up a few additional hours per week, or someone looking to embark on teacher training and gain valuable hands-on experience working with children.
The Role
- Support the delivery of computing and coding after school workshops in primary schools across Medway
- Supervise and engage children in a safe, nurturing, and enjoyable environment
- Encourage positive behaviour and foster confidence, creativity, and teamwork
- Assist children with activities in a friendly, patient, and encouraging manner
- Help maintain an organised, welcoming environment at each session
- Communicate effectively with school staff and parents where needed
- Represent Jam Coding Medway as a positive role model at all times
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- A positive, enthusiastic attitude and a genuine passion for working with children
- Good general IT/computer knowledge (full training provided)
- Excellent communication skills, well organised and reliable
- Ability to travel to schools across the Medway area (driving licence and access to a vehicle required)
Desirable:
- Experience working with children in teaching, childcare, coaching, or similar settings
- A teaching, childcare, or teaching assistant qualification (or working towards one)
- Knowledge of child development or behaviour management strategies
- DBS certificate (if not held, this can be arranged for the successful candidate)
Details
- Pay: From £12.75 per hour
- Job type: Part-time, zero hours contract
- Location: Medway (Rochester, Strood, Chatham and surrounding areas)
- Hours: Approximately 3:15pm – 4:15pm, Monday to Friday during term time, though this may vary slightly depending on the school session. You will be paid for 1.5 hours per session to allow for preparation time
- Start date: September 2026
