D R Newitt is delighted to be partnering with one of our long-standing engineering clients in the Hillington area of Glasgow to recruit an experienced Manufacturing Engineer.
Our client is a highly respected specialist engineering business, providing both manufacturing and repair services to customers across a range of demanding industrial sectors. Due to continued growth and investment, they are looking to strengthen their engineering team with an individual who can help drive manufacturing efficiency and support production through high-quality CNC programming and process improvement.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with a strong machining background to play a key role within a modern precision engineering environment.
You'll be responsible for creating and optimising offline CNC programs for both CNC milling machines and CNC lathes using CAD/CAM software, ensuring production is efficient, repeatable and delivers the highest quality standards.
Working closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams, you'll also be involved in developing manufacturing methods, improving processes and supporting the introduction of new work into the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce offline CNC programs for CNC milling and turning centres using CAD/CAM software.
- Develop and optimise machining processes to maximise efficiency and reduce cycle times.
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, setup sheets and tooling information.
- Support new product introduction and manufacturing route development.
- Work alongside machinists to resolve technical issues and improve productivity.
- Liaise with engineering and production teams to ensure jobs are delivered on time and to specification.
- Utilise MRP/ERP systems for production planning, routing and manufacturing documentation where required.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across machining processes.
About You
We're keen to speak with candidates who have:
- Previous experience in a Manufacturing Engineer, Production Engineer or CNC Programmer role.
- Strong experience programming CNC milling machines and lathes offline using CAD/CAM software.
- A solid understanding of precision machining and manufacturing best practices.
- Experience working with MRP or ERP systems would be highly advantageous.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
