About ELIFAR Day Centre:
We are a Day Centre, that opens all year round Monday to Saturday. We offer support to adults with a range of learning disabilities and needs. All of our service users are offered 1:1 support or 2:1 support depending on their support levels. At our Day Centre we offer a wide range of activities such as swimming, trampolining, bouncy castle, arts and crafts, soft play facilities and sensory based activities. We are looking for enthusiastic, caring, and active staff who can support service users to take part in meaningful, enjoyable, and safe activities while promoting dignity, independence, choice, and wellbeing.
Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality, person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities in a day centre setting. The role involves supporting individuals to develop life skills, participate in meaningful activities, and promote independence, choice, and inclusion within the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support service users in their daily activities while following their personalised activity planner.
- Assist individuals with personal care tasks, where required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
- Work closely with service users to develop and implement person-centred support plans and goals.
- Promote independence and encourage service users to make choices about their own lives.
- Support individuals in accessing community services, attending appointments, and participating in off-site activities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including support plans, risk assessments, and daily notes.
- Liaise with families, carers, and professionals involved in the care and support of service users.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the development of the service.
- Ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of service users and colleagues in all activities.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns in line with organisational policy
Person Specification:
Essential:
- Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities or within a care/support environment.
- Understanding of person-centred care and support planning.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive, respectful attitude.
- Basic IT skills and ability to complete written records.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and safeguarding principles.
- Willingness to participate in relevant training and development.
- Being a kind, energetic positive person
Additional Information:
- A DBS check will be required for this role.
- Full driving license preferable but not essential
