Appointee Service
The Appointeeship Service supports vulnerable adults who are unable to manage their financial affairs independently and have no suitable person available to do so on their behalf. Acting as a Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Appointee, the service manages welfare benefits, income, and essential expenditure to ensure clients' financial needs are met, their wellbeing is promoted, and they are safeguarded from financial abuse or hardship.
An Appointee can provide help to those individuals who are unable to claim the correct benefits, paying bills or managing income and outgoings. The Appointee can act on a temporary or permanent basis.
Overview of the Role
The Appointee Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and development of the Appointeeship team, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, person-centred, and compliant service. The postholder will provide line management to a small team of Appointee Officers and an administrator, while maintaining responsibility for a caseload of clients.
The role ensures compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, organisational policies, and financial procedures while promoting best practice and safeguarding vulnerable adults.
Key Responsibilities
Team leadership and management
· Line manage a small team of appointees. Providing supervision, guidance, and support.
· Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews, and development discussions.
· Allocate cases and monitor workloads across the team.
· Lead recruitment, induction, and training of new team members.
· Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified, reported, and managed appropriately.
· Investigate and respond to complaints, incidents, and service concerns.
Service Delivery
· Responsible for claiming and managing benefits.
· Ensure that all funds held for the client are being used in their best interest.
· Responsible for budgeting individual clients and ensuring outgoings are within budget
· Ensure personal money is made available for the client.
· Completion of DWP forms and financial assessments for Local Authorities.
· Ensure all personal data is kept secure and under GDPR rulings
· Ensure benefit knowledge is kept up to date by attending training courses and using Gov.uk websites
