Are you an experienced recruiter who can quickly identify strong candidates within high-volume recruitment campaigns?
Do you enjoy candidate screening and telephone conversations, balancing pace with a great candidate experience?
Could you join us for two months and help our Recruitment team deliver a particularly busy period of contact centre recruitment?
We’re looking for a Volume Recruiter to join our Recruitment team on a two-month fixed-term contract, providing additional hands-on support during a particularly busy period of recruitment.
Your initial focus will be on application screening and initial telephone screening, helping us identify and progress suitable candidates quickly and consistently.
As our campaigns progress, there may also be opportunities to conduct more structured telephone interviews and support interviews and assessment centres alongside our Recruitment and operational teams.
This is a hands-on recruitment delivery role, ideal for someone who can quickly understand our approach, get up to speed and make an immediate contribution.
Your role
Working as part of our established Recruitment team, you’ll support the day-to-day delivery of a number of high-volume recruitment campaigns.
You’ll:
- Review and screen applications against agreed role requirements and selection criteria.
- Conduct initial candidate screening calls.
- Identify and progress suitable candidates through the recruitment process.
- Manage candidate pipelines and ensure recruitment activity is accurately recorded within our applicant tracking system.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with candidates throughout the process.
- Support structured telephone interviews where required.
- Support interviews and assessment centres during busier periods.
- Work closely with colleagues across Recruitment and our operational teams to keep campaigns moving at pace.
- Throughout the role, you’ll help us balance the demands of volume recruitment with the quality, consistency and candidate experience we expect from our recruitment processes.
Experience
Previous experience working within recruitment or talent acquisition, either in-house or within an agency environment, is important.
You’ll ideally have experience supporting high-volume recruitment activity and be comfortable reviewing significant numbers of applications and speaking with candidates over the telephone.
Experience recruiting within contact centres, customer service, retail, hospitality, logistics, healthcare or another high-volume environment would be useful, but isn’t essential.
You’ll also be comfortable using applicant tracking systems, recruitment databases or similar technology. We don’t expect you to have used the systems we use before, but you’ll need to be confident learning new processes quickly.
You’ll be comfortable working at pace while maintaining good judgement and attention to detail.
You’ll also bring:
- Strong candidate screening and assessment skills.
- Confidence conducting candidate screening calls and telephone conversations.
- The ability to assess candidates consistently against agreed criteria.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy workload.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently while remaining part of a collaborative Recruitment team.
- A friendly, professional approach and a genuine commitment to delivering a positive candidate experience.
- The flexibility to adapt as recruitment activity and priorities change.
How we work
This role offers a high degree of flexibility, with around 80% of your time working from home, typically around one day a week in the office.
There may be occasions where additional office attendance is needed, particularly when supporting assessment centres, interviews or other recruitment activity, so some flexibility during busier periods will be important.
What you can expect from us
Our colleague experience is shaped around four things that matter to us:
Purpose - The work we do makes a genuine difference. By helping us recruit the right people, you’ll be supporting an organisation that helps people take control of their finances and move towards a better financial future.
Balance - We want colleagues to have the flexibility and support they need to do great work while maintaining balance outside of work. This role offers significant flexibility through our hybrid working model.
Growth - Although this is a short-term opportunity, you’ll work alongside an experienced Recruitment team and have the chance to contribute across different stages of high-volume recruitment and assessment.
Belonging - We want StepChange to be somewhere people can be themselves, feel valued and know their contribution matters. You’ll be joining a supportive team where we work together to deliver the best possible experience for candidates and hiring teams.
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
Belonging is central to who we are. We’re committed to building a workforce that reflects the communities we support and creating a culture where everyone feels valued and able to be themselves.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and life experiences. We assess candidates based on the skills, experience and potential they can bring to the role and aim to make our recruitment process accessible and inclusive.
If you need a reasonable adjustment during the recruitment process so you can perform at your best, just let us know. We’re here to support you.
