About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and compassionate Team Leader to join our new 4-bed Children's Residential Care Home in West Moors. The home will provide high-quality care and support for children and young people aged 8–17 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC).
As Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home, leading shifts, mentoring staff, and ensuring that the children and young people receive outstanding care in a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker or existing Team Leader looking to progress their career within a growing and child-centred organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead shifts and provide effective supervision and guidance to Residential Support Workers.
- Support the Registered Manager in maintaining compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and Quality Standards.
- Promote positive outcomes for children and young people through person-centred care planning and key-working responsibilities.
- Build trusting relationships with young people and support them to achieve their educational, social, emotional, and independence goals.
- Support children who may present challenging behaviours using therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
- Assist in the implementation and review of care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and professional record keeping and reporting.
- Liaise effectively with social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals, and other external agencies.
- Participate in staff supervisions, team meetings, and training programmes.
- Act as a positive role model and champion safeguarding and child protection practices at all times.
- Participate in the on-call rota as required.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a Children's Residential Care setting.
- Experience supporting children and young people with EBD and/or complex needs.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant legislation.
- Experience leading shifts and supporting staff teams.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Level 4 or Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards).
- Experience supporting Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC).
- Knowledge of trauma-informed and therapeutic care models.
- Experience of Ofsted inspections and regulatory compliance.
