Responsibilities
- Safely operate flatbed lorries and other commercial vehicles to deliver goods to clients and customers.
- Plan delivery routes efficiently, ensuring timely arrivals at designated locations.
- Load and unload goods with care, ensuring items are secured properly during transit.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and obtain necessary signatures upon delivery completion.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations to ensure safe transportation at all times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding delivery schedules or any unforeseen delays.
- Assist in the organisation of deliveries to optimise efficiency across daily routes.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a delivery driver, preferably with flatbed or commercial vehicles.
- Valid driving licence suitable for operating large vehicles (e.g., LGV or HGV licence preferred).
- Knowledge of safe driving practices and current road regulations within the UK.
- Experience with commercial driving and handling deliveries in a professional setting.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan routes effectively.
- Excellent time management skills to meet delivery deadlines consistently.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of safety and service.
- Physical fitness to load/unload goods and handle long periods of driving.
