Learning Specialist
What your work in learning could directly help change childhoods and change lives?
At Barnardo's, when our people learn, children and young people benefit.
We're looking for a Learning Specialist who is passionate about helping others grow, thrives on creating engaging learning experiences, and wants their work to have a meaningful impact. If you're energised by designing, facilitating and continuously improving learning, this could be your next opportunity.
About the Role
As a Learning Specialist, you'll help shape learning and development across Barnardo's.
Working closely with colleagues, subject matter experts and external partners, you'll identify learning needs, design and facilitate engaging learning experiences, and evaluate their impact. You'll help create a culture where learning, development and growth are part of everyday life, supporting colleagues and volunteers to perform at their best. We're a friendly, supportive team who test, learn and iterate; we're always looking for ways to do things better for the people we support.
This role can be based in a Barnardo's hub/office or home address. You will be required to attend a monthly in-person team meeting in London along with occasional travel as required for the role. Flexible working requests will be considered.
Why This Role Matters
The quality of support we provide to children and young people depends on the capability, confidence and development of our people.
Through your expertise, creativity and curiosity, you'll help equip colleagues and volunteers with the skills they need to make a lasting difference. This is an opportunity to influence learning at scale, bringing people together to learn, grow and achieve more.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an L&D professional who brings strong core practice and a collaborative, learner-focused mindset.
You're curious about how learning can impact, and keen to test, learn and improve solutions as you go.
You'll bring:
- Experience designing, delivering and evaluating structured learning (such as workshops, programmes and digital content) within a complex organisation.
- Strong facilitation skills, with experience leading inclusive, learner-centred sessions that encourage engagement and participation.
- Experience collecting feedback and using evaluation to improve learning and inform future design.
- Confidence working with stakeholders to identify learning needs and shape effective solutions.
- Experience using digital platforms (such as SharePoint, Canva and similar) to create and manage learning content.
- A CIPD Level 3 or 5 qualification (or equivalent) and/or around 3+ years' experience in learning and development.
- Practical application of learning and development principles, with the ability to translate theory into effective workplace learning.
What You'll Gain
- The opportunity to shape learning across one of the UK's largest children's charities.
- A flexible, predominantly remote role within a supportive and collaborative team.
- Investment in your professional development, including conferences, events and ongoing learning opportunities.
- The chance to work with a wide range of colleagues and projects across the organisation.
- Most importantly, the opportunity to see your work contribute to changing childhoods and changing lives.
