The Role:
We are currently recruiting Children and Young People Support Workers to join our residential services based in Whitchurch. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a brand-new team and contribute to shaping a safe, nurturing, and supportive home environment for the young people in our care.
The service is made up of two units: one four-bedroom unit and one three-bedroom unit. It is thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of the children and young people who live there. One of the units includes a self-contained area for an individual, providing a more independent living space while still benefiting from the support and structure of a residential setting.
The home aims to offer a warm, stable, and therapeutic environment where young people can feel safe, build positive relationships, and work towards achieving their personal goals.
We offer full time hours covering evenings, weekends, bank holidays, wake-in and sleep-in duties. Our shift patterns requires full flexibility which includes typically include:
- 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- 9:45 PM – 8:45 AM
Due to the specific needs of the young people within the service, this role includes providing intimate personal care and support where privacy dignity and safeguarding are essential. As such, this post is open to female applicants only.

Experience is helpful, but not essential as full training is provided. Above all we are looking for people who share our values, who are caring, empathetic, compassionate, good team players with a willingness to learn.
Successful candidates will have an interest in helping those with mental health needs and complex learning disabilities to live with less restriction and greater independence They will be energetic and enthusiastic, with a desire to make a difference and enrich the lives of others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting individuals where necessary with personal care needs, including washing / bathing, toileting needs, dressing and undressing, mobility and transport, etc.
- Helping the individuals in our care to make their own choices and supporting them to carry out activities within and outside of the home, e.g. cooking, cleaning, shopping, going to the gym, days out, engaging in a range of social and leisure activities.
- Acting as an advocate promoting individuals’ wellbeing, safety and quality of life.
- Cleaning duties as part of the team, undertaking any general domestic chores, or supporting individuals to carry out such duties.
- Helping with menu planning, shopping and cooking for the home.
- Administering medication to individuals following appropriate training and in line with company procedures.
- Carrying out health & safety checks as necessary.
- Following care and management guidelines and working in line with company policies and procedures.
- Completing documentation and keeping records in accordance with company policy.
- Other reasonable tasks as required which fall within the grade of the job.
Selection Criteria:
Essential:
- Ability to speak and understand English
- Good Numeracy and literacy skills
- Physically fit to meet demands of post
- Be a minimum of 21 years old to work in our children's homes
- Prepared to learn
Desirable:
- Care experience with those with learning disabilities
- Valid driver's license and driving experience
- Relevant QCF qualifications
