Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic qualified teacher status personnel to provide personalised academic support to students across various age groups. The successful candidate will help students improve their understanding of subjects, develop effective learning strategies, and build confidence in their abilities. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students' educational journeys through engaging and tailored instruction. Primarily looking for in person tutoring, at schools, learning environments or students' own home. The role is on a self employed basis.
Duties
- Deliver one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions in designated subjects, adapting teaching methods to meet individual student needs
- Assess students’ current knowledge levels and identify areas for improvement
- Develop customised lesson plans and learning materials that align with curriculum standards and student goals using programmes provided by Tutor Doctor
- Monitor and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to schools, local authorities, students and parents where appropriate
- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and motivation
- Assist students with homework, exam preparation, and study techniques
- Maintain organised records of tutoring sessions, attendance, and student achievements. (Systems and training provided)
Requirements
- Must be eligible to work in the UK
- Qualified Teacher Status preferred
- Must be able to travel within SW Devon, Plymouth and SE Cornwall.
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching, preferably with children or young learners
- Knowledge of specialised educational needs, including special education if applicable
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently
- Strong organisational skills to plan effective lessons and track progress
- Passion for education and supporting student development
- Ability to adapt teaching styles to suit diverse learning preferences
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in education or subject-specific areas are advantageous but not mandatory
