Job Overview
In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals who live with various SEN needs, including autism and global development delay. You will play a vital part in supporting our children and young people who attend our learning base, you will also help them develop skills, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes. Your proactive approach will ensure that every individual receives respectful, engaging, and effective support tailored to their circumstances.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one tailored support to individuals, focusing on their unique needs, preferences, and goals.
- Educate clients on daily living skills, encouraging self-reliance and fostering a sense of achievement.
- Mentor and guide children through various educational, recreational, and social activities, building their confidence and self-esteem.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of clients’ progress, including any incidents, challenges, or achievements during sessions.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams, including social workers, teachers, and healthcare professionals, to develop and implement tailored support plans.
- Facilitate social and recreational activities that encourage clients to engage with their peers, build friendships, and participate in their local community.
- Actively listen to clients, providing emotional support when needed and helping them manage challenges.
- Regularly assess and review the progress of individuals, adapting your support as necessary to meet changing needs.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or individuals with additional needs is highly desirable but not essential.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with clients, families, and other professionals.
- A genuine passion for helping others and making a positive, lasting impact on their lives.
- Proven ability to educate and guide clients on various aspects of personal .development, including life skills, emotional regulation, and well-being.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience, with the ability to stay calm and effective in challenging or emotional situations.
- Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the dynamic needs of clients throughout the day.
- A proactive, solution-focused attitude, with the ability to think critically and problem-solve effectively.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to learn new skills and strategies.
You will require a full UK driving licence and business insurance for this role.
