Happiest at Home provides dedicated, personal home care assistance to clients, to enable them to have an excellent quality of life in their own home. You will be seeing the same client every week.
The Client
The client is a lovely lady in her 30s who has an acquired brain injury which has resulted in cognitive, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
She lives on her own and is mainly independent with daily living tasks, but she benefits from support to monitor how she is getting on and to step in to support her if she is struggling, for example with daily tasks or administrative matters.
The main purpose of support is to enable the client to engage in meaningful community activities that give her a sense of purpose, self-esteem, and self-confidence. She struggles to come up with ideas for activities and she can sometimes be anxious about participating in activities she is not familiar with.
She has had a support package in place since she sustained her injury some years ago and this is overseen by a clinical case manager who provides day to day support to the support workers.
We are looking for a CarePal, with experience of working with clients with ‘hidden’ brain injury, who is able to motivate the client in an assertive but calm manner. Familiarity with the Lincoln area and (productive) social activity opportunities is helpful.
It is required that CarePals have good listening skills, be able to maintain clear professional boundaries and remain objective at all times.
You must be able to work well within a team because the client has 2 CarePals currently working with her, as well as the case manager. Consistency within the team is absolutely essential to manage the client’s behaviour and thereby enable her to get the most out of her support hours and ultimately to maximise the quality of her life.
