About the Role
William Wallace Commissioning Management Ltd is experiencing significant growth and is looking to strengthen our team with an experienced Commissioning Manager based in London.
We are looking for a proactive, technically strong professional with proven experience managing the commissioning process on major construction projects, ideally from RIBA Stage 4 through to successful project handover.
You will take a lead role in planning, managing and delivering the commissioning strategy, working closely with the client, design team, contractors and specialist subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the commissioning process from RIBA Stage 4 onwards.
- Develop and manage detailed commissioning programmes.
- Carry out commissioning and commissionability reviews.
- Coordinate commissioning activities across MEP systems and specialist services.
- Manage commissioning meetings, workshops and progress reviews.
- Monitor commissioning progress and identify risks, issues and potential delays.
- Coordinate testing, witnessing, verification and validation activities.
- Review commissioning documentation, test records and certificates.
- Work closely with main contractors, MEP contractors and specialist subcontractors.
- Ensure commissioning activities are completed in line with the project programme.
- Support the project team through to successful commissioning and handover.
- Provide clear progress reporting to the client and wider project team.
- Identify opportunities to improve the commissioning process and project outcomes.
Experience Required
We are looking for candidates with:
- Proven experience as a Commissioning Manager.
- Strong knowledge of MEP commissioning within the construction industry.
- Experience working on major residential, commercial or mixed-use developments.
- Strong understanding of commissioning from RIBA Stage 4 onwards.
- Experience managing contractors and specialist commissioning subcontractors.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strong organisational and programme-management abilities.
- The confidence to challenge programme, design and commissioning issues when required.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team.
Desirable Experience
Experience with:
- Residential developments and high-rise projects.
- HVAC systems.
- Electrical systems.
- BMS and controls.
- Generator commissioning.
- UPS commissioning.
- Life-safety systems.
- Integrated systems testing.
- Witnessing and validation.
- Commissioning documentation and handover.
