Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to support our busy culinary team. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working in a fast-paced hospitality setting and eager to contribute to delivering excellent service. Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is advantageous but not mandatory, as training will be provided. This position offers an opportunity to develop skills within the culinary and hospitality industries.
Duties
- Washing, cleaning, and sanitising dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to ensure hygiene standards are met
- Assisting with basic food preparation tasks as directed by chefs or kitchen supervisors
- Supporting the organisation of the kitchen by maintaining cleanliness of work surfaces and storage areas
- Assisting with waste disposal and recycling procedures in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Restocking supplies and ensuring that the kitchen remains well-organised throughout service periods
- Supporting the team during busy periods by helping with serving or other general duties as required
- Adhering to all health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
Skills
- Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality environments such as restaurants, hotels, or catering services is desirable
- Knowledge of kitchen operations and basic culinary skills are advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced setting
- Strong organisational skills with attention to cleanliness and hygiene standards
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Flexibility to adapt to various tasks within the kitchen environment
- Enthusiasm for learning new skills within the culinary and hospitality sectors
