North Lincolnshire Council is looking for an experienced and motivated Community Operative (Grade 5) to join our Parks and Green Spaces team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in grounds maintenance who is ready to take the next step by leading and supporting a small operational team while continuing to work hands-on.
Every day is different. From maintaining parks, sports facilities and landscaped areas to delivering seasonal horticultural displays and ensuring our public spaces remain safe, attractive and welcoming, you'll play an important role in improving the places where people live, work and spend their leisure time.
About the role
As a Grade 5 Community Operative, you will be expected to lead by example, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
You will:

Lead and support a small team of operatives, allocating work and maintaining quality standards.

Carry out a wide range of grounds maintenance activities including grass cutting, hedge maintenance, planting, landscaping and sports ground maintenance.

Operate a variety of professional grounds maintenance machinery and equipment safely and effectively.

Monitor site standards and identify improvements to maintain high-quality public spaces.

Complete daily records and ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.

Provide excellent customer service when working within our communities.
About you
We're looking for someone who is passionate about grounds maintenance and enjoys taking responsibility for delivering quality work.
You'll have:

Significant practical experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture or landscaping.
-
Experience supervising or leading a team in an operational environment.
-
The ability to organise workloads and motivate others to achieve high standards.
-
Experience using professional grounds maintenance equipment and machinery.
-
A strong understanding of health and safety and safe working practices.
-
Excellent communication skills and a positive, professional attitude.
-
A full UK driving licence.
Relevant horticultural qualifications or specialist operational certifications would be advantageous, although equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
