Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Digital Press Field Service Engineer to join our team, predominately based working from a home location, ideally located between Southampton and Exeter, to cover a customer base across the Southwest area of the UK. This role is vital in supporting our clients by maintaining and repairing digital press machinery on-site, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. Core working hours are 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday with a 60-minute lunch break.
Responsibilities
- Follow up on remote diagnostics and resolve technical issues promptly to maximise system availability and customer productivity.
- Install, configure, maintain, and repair digital printing press systems and associated equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults, identifying effective solutions quickly and efficiently.
- Deliver a professional, customer-focused service while maintaining high standards of technical support.
- Work closely with Area Managers and colleagues to ensure effective communication and service delivery.
- Complete service reports, documentation, and call closure procedures accurately and within required timescales.
- Participate in product and technical training programmes to maintain and develop technical expertise.
- Provide support across other UK regions when required, demonstrating flexibility to meet business and customer needs.
- Adhere to all Health & Safety policies, procedures, and safe working practices.
- Maintain professional driving standards and comply with all company vehicle policies.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Intermediate or higher vocational qualification in a technical discipline, with a strong foundation in both mechanical and electronic engineering.
- Minimum of three years' experience in a field service engineering role, ideally supporting high-end or complex electro-mechanical equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills, including diagnosis to the electronic component level.
- Good knowledge of electrical and electronic systems, including 3-phase power, and the ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams.
- Understanding of colour theory and its practical application.
- Customer-focused with a genuine passion for engineering and delivering high-quality service.
- Proactive, results-oriented problem solver who responds effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers and colleagues at all levels.
- Collaborative team player with a flexible approach and the ability to thrive in a varied working environment.
- Willingness to travel as required and hold a valid driving licence.
- Must hold a current valid passport or be able to obtain one immediately.
