Lightning Like Scissors is seeking an experienced, values-aligned Barber or Hairdresser to join our progressive Brighton salon.
This is a self-employed position with generous, negotiable commission and flexible working days (full or part-time).
About the Role
You will deliver high-quality cutting services across both short and long hair, provide thorough consultations, and uphold our inclusive, sensory-considerate environment. Hair colouring skills are preferred, but not essential
We operate longer appointment times to prioritise quality and reduce fatigue. The atmosphere is safe, innovative and adventurous — supportive leadership without hierarchical politics.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 minimum
- Extensive salon experience
- Confident cutting both long and short hair
- Competent with clippers (tapers/fades)
- Strong consultation and customer care skills
- Inclusive and open-minded values
Preferred
- Hair colour theory and skills
Training is available to deepen cutting, colour and consultation confidence and understanding. However, foundations must already be present.
