Job Description
Based in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, W.I.T Transport specialise in UK general road haulage. We are a well-established haulier with over 35 years’ experience in the industry and work with a wide-ranging list of customers, whilst also being the UK haulage partner for a leading manufacturer of packaging systems. We currently have a growing fleet of around 40 units and 50 trailers.
The Role:
Due to continued success and growth we are currently seeking a full time Class 1 HGV (C+E) driver to join our hard working and friendly team.
Responsibilities:
- Successfully undertake deliveries and collections in a safe and efficient manner
- To represent the company in a professional manner at all times
- Maintain a high standard of driving in line with the highway code and general best road safety practices
- Adhere to European driving regulations including tachograph and working time directive legislation
- Plan your own routes alongside the traffic planning office to ensure deliveries or collections meet booking in times
- Communicate with the traffic office, keeping them updated of any delays, accidents or other issues that may affect meeting the proposed delivery or collection time
- Complete daily vehicle safety checks to ensure road worthiness and report any defects to help assist with preventative maintenance where necessary
- Supervise the loading and unloading of your vehicle to ensure that goods are securely loaded and unloaded to prevent overloading or damage
- Complete delivery and collection paperwork ensuring customer signatures and dates are obtained before returning to the traffic office
- Infrequent non-driving duties such as the hand-ball of goods on and off the vehicle
- Carry out any other work such as loading or tipping trailers on behalf of other drivers where necessary, to ensure the company meets its transport deadlines
- Maintain and continually develop the company’s professional and friendly relationships with our customers
Requirements:
- Must hold a valid HGV Category (C+E) licence
- Must have a valid driver CPC card and digital tacho card
- Have the desire to attain your Class 1 licence
- Must have no more than 6 points on your licence
- Good communication skills
- A professional and team-oriented attitude
- Be hardworking, reliable and flexible
- Willing to have nights out in your vehicle as and when the company requires
- Have a good level of health and physical ability to successfully carry out the duties of an HGV driver
- Good knowledge of UK geography and the road network
