We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Weighbridge Operator / Administrator to join our team. In this vital role, you will manage the daily operations of the weighbridge station, ensuring accurate recording of vehicle weights and facilitating smooth traffic flow. Your organizational skills and technical proficiency will help maintain efficient site operations, support administrative functions, and uphold safety standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be a key part of our logistics and administrative team, contributing to the seamless management of site activities.
Duties
- Operate the weighbridge equipment to accurately record vehicle weights and related data
- Verify vehicle documentation and ensure compliance
- Manage incoming and outgoing vehicle traffic
- Maintain detailed logs of all weigh-in and weigh-out transactions using computer systems
- Complete and process all associated paperwork, updating spreadsheets and internal systems.
- Provide excellent phone etiquette when communicating with drivers, clients, and team members
- General office administration, including filing, data input, and document management.
- Check and verify that all daily forms are completed and filed correctly.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised office environment, including regular cleaning duties.
- Stay alert and aware of yard activity, reporting any issues or irregularities to the yard team or management.
Qualifications
- Proven office experience with strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Previous clerical or administrative experience is preferred
- Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills
- Ability to perform data entry quickly and accurately
- Familiarity with office equipment and basic troubleshooting of computer systems
- Friendly, professional, and customer-focused approach.
- Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and computer systems.
- Able to prioritise work and remain calm under pressure.
- A strong communicator who enjoys working as part of a team.
- Reliable, flexible, and willing to learn.
- A willingness to work in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Previous weighbridge, transport, logistics, recycling, or administration experience would be an advantage, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.
- Knowledge of metal grades (desirable but not essential).
