Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Play Worker to join our team. As a Play Worker, you will be responsible for creating a safe and engaging environment for children to play and learn. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and contribute to their development. Kinnerton Little Acorns provides a vital wraparound care for the parents/carers of children who attend Ysgol Derwen and we have our holiday club which operates 6 weeks of the year.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and interact with children during play activities
- Plan and organise age-appropriate games, crafts, and recreational activities
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care
- Promote positive behaviour and enforce our golden rules
- Assist with snack times and provide assistance with personal care, if needed
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a stimulating play environment
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of play areas
- Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding their child
Skills:
- Passion for working with children and promoting their development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage children in fun and educational activities
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to handle challenging behaviours
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively
- Ability to work well in a team environment
Ideal candidates would hold a Playworker Qualification and/childcare qualification but we are happy to consider applications from all as we encourage our staff to upskill and train whilst in our employment with training opportunities coming up in the near future.
Hours advertised are fixed during term-time (Welsh term time) with 6 weeks of holiday club cover requested too. Total hours per week during term time is 18.
- Breakfast Club 07:30 - 09:00 - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
- Afterschool club 15:00 - 18:00 - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
- Holiday club shifts are on a different shift pattern of normally 8am - 1pm or 12:30pm - 5:30pm (this can be discussed with the Childcare Lead).
Holiday clubs is run on the following weeks:
- February Half-Term
- 1st Week of Easter Holidays
- May Half-Term
- 2nd Weeks Mid-August
Additional cover may be available to cover busier times and also to help cover other staff in times of training or illness.
