Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Steel Fixer to join our construction team, bringing expertise in reinforcing concrete structures for a variety of commercial projects. As a Steel Fixer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate placement and secure fastening of steel reinforcement bars, contributing to the safety, durability, and quality of our builds. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on dynamic construction sites where your skills will directly impact the success of large-scale infrastructure and building projects.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine placement of reinforcement steel.
- Measure, cut, bend, and assemble steel reinforcement bars using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
- Securely tie steel bars together with wire or other fastening methods to maintain proper positioning before concrete pouring.
- Collaborate with carpenters, masons, and other trades to ensure reinforcement aligns with project plans.
- Use heavy lifting equipment safely to transport steel materials around the site.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
- Conduct quality checks on installed reinforcement to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Steel Fixer or similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to reinforcing steel installation processes.
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as pliers, wire cutters, hammers, as well as power tools like angle grinders and cutting machines.
- Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints accurately.
- Knowledge of welding techniques and safety procedures is highly desirable.
- Physical strength and stamina for heavy lifting, bending, and working at heights.
- Valid driver’s license for commercial driving is a plus; willingness to operate heavy machinery when required.
- Additional skills in masonry, roofing, carpentry or masonry work are advantageous for versatile project support.
