About Rattlerow Farms
Proud to be named one of The Times Best Places to Work 2026, Rattlerow Farms is one of Europe’s largest and longest-established privately owned pig genetics businesses. With more than 70 years of experience across three generations, we’ve built our reputation on continuous investment in genetics, high-health herds and progressive, welfare-led farming systems — and on looking after the people who make it all possible.
About the role
Working with our gilt mating farms and providing cover for holidays etc across our Norfolk farm network,
· Daily care, feeding and management of our gilt breeding stock
· Serving (artificial insemination) and supporting the breeding and genetic improvement programme
· Mucking out, bedding down and maintaining clean, comfortable straw-based housing
· Monitoring gilt health, welfare and performance, and acting quickly whenever something needs attention
· Maintaining excellent animal welfare standards in line with Red Tractor requirements
· Upholding strict hygiene and biosecurity to protect our high-health herd
· Keeping accurate records and helping to consistently achieve production targets
· Working closely with experienced colleagues across the units.
What we’re looking for
· Hands-on experience in indoor pig production (breeding or gilt units an advantage)
· Physically fit and genuinely comfortable with demanding, hands-on work — including mucking out on straw
· Hardworking, reliable and detail-focused, with a real passion for pig welfare and production
· Happy to work one weekend in two, and flexible when the animals need you
· A positive, can-do attitude with strong team-working and communication skills
· Keen to learn and progress within a specialist genetics environment
· Tractor driving experience is ideal
