Overview of the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and hands-on General Labourer / Factory Assistant to join our production team on a full-time basis.
As a progressive employer, we proudly operate a four-day working week (Monday to Thursday, 7:00am–5:30pm), giving our team three-day weekend as standard, alongside occasional Friday overtime during busy periods.
In this varied and practical role, you will play a crucial part in keeping our workshop running smoothly, supporting our skilled craftspeople, and assisting our finishing team. You will gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of high-end furniture manufacturing, working alongside apprentice-trained cabinet makers and polishers.
For the right candidate, there is great potential to learn basic polishing techniques (such as priming) and occasionally travel across the UK to assist our fitting team with on-site installations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Finishing & Polishing Support:
● Assisting the polisher with timber preparation, including sanding, masking, and filling.
● Lifting, organising, and carefully handling polished components and finished goods.
● Palletising polished items ready for transport or further assembly.
● Conducting quality control checks to ensure flawless finishes before items progress to the next stage.
Workshop & Operations Support:
● Maintaining general workshop cleanliness and keeping the shop floor tidy, safe, and organised.
● Safely manual handling, lifting, and moving materials around the factory.
● Unloading raw materials and deliveries from suppliers.
● Managing factory waste and recycling in line with workshop procedures.
● Meticulously wrapping, packing, and preparing completed furniture for dispatch to prevent damage during transit.
● Potential opportunities to travel to project sites across the UK to assist our installation team.
● Opportunities for career progression and skill development, including learning basic wood polishing and priming techniques.
Experience & Skills Required
● Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to work with real pride in high-quality standards.
● Team Player: Strong work ethic with the ability to work effectively as part of a workshop team and follow instructions clearly.
● Physical Fitness: Comfortable with manual handling, heavy lifting, and standing for extended periods in a factory environment.
● Enthusiasm & Willingness to Learn: Eager to pick up new trade skills within a luxury woodworking environment.
● Communication: Clear communication skills to liaise effectively with colleagues.
● Flexibility: Willingness to occasionally assist on-site or work Friday overtime during busy production periods.
● (Desirable) A UK driving licence is preferred, but not essential.
● (Desirable) Prior experience in a workshop, joinery, or manufacturing environment.
